Ive almost finished my new guitar ive attached a link to my face book photo folder which has photos of the progression and all of the jigs i made up to be able to do it with just good carpentry tools. its abit of a cross between an obstructures and a tb500 with a slim egc type neck profile. hopefully the photos may be helpful to anyone wishing to take on a similar project. cheers

looks like a mix between an egc and an obstructures...the obvious tb500 body shape taken into account also...

looks nice tho dude... well done...i have an egc custom also a kramer 450g and im waiting for an obstructures 0.750...the obstructures will be my only all alu machine! so looking forward to that! i see you spoke to matt from obstructures as he commented on your pics. Anyways well done mate

That mix is basically what it is. I played an egc 500 a litle while back and just loved the eliptical profile as opposed to the solid curves of a bean profile. I thought about doing an all aluminium but with the tools i have the body would have been actually harder than the neck. Got a few tips from Matt, hes a pretty swell dude. Im sure your guitar will be awsome.

Fantastic work dude! Looks and sounds great! How long did this take you?
I've been looking into doing this for a while, and have been making some plans. Can anyone recommend a good supplier of aluminium billets in the uk?

I just purchased a 70x32x850mm 6061 aluminium billet from a local aluminium supplier, about $75.00 aud. i had to grind the kerf off of a 32 teeth hacksaw blade in order to have a blade the correct width for the fret slots. the frets fit pretty snug but i did use epoxy glue just to be sure that they wont lift. if the frets are too tight i believe they can act like wedges and create a slight back bow.
