I might be buying a spare hartke aluminum bass neck. The tuners are missing.
Which ones should i get? According to the seller, the headstock is thinner than standard wood headstocks, resulting in that "ordinary" tuners may not fit.
Anyone have any tips on tuners that may work - both cheap ones and more regularly priced ones?

Thanks!

All of the Hartke and Vaccaro basses used Shaller tuners. If yours is the import version neck (rosewood fingerboard) the chrome regular Shaller or Shaller replacements will work. If your neck is for the Hartke XL or Vaccaro regular line (Asbury Park-ebonol fingerboard) they were designed for Sperzel locking tuners. Hope that helps.

I'm sorry, I meant to say that the import necks used GOTOH tuners! So any GOTOH or GOTOH replacement will work. Duh!

If the neck is a US-made one, it needs a custom set of Sperzels. It will have a small hole for a pin above the post hole. You can call Sperzel and tell them you want a set for a Vaccaro. They'll know what you're talking about. The Korean-made necks use Gotoh tuners which are pretty standard tuners.
