I owned this bass from 1984-1987 and just got it back from Ebay. The code on the volume pots dates it to October '79. When I first had the bass the waranty card was not filled out. Some one who owned it after me must have filled it out. at vintagekramer they said the body was moddified. The cutout at the bottom I believe was done at the factory. The strap button is in the bottom cutout section. If it was modded the original placement of the bottom strap button would have wood filler. There is no hole plugged up ion that section. The case for the bass has a section fitted for the bottom cutout. It was done at the factory. I have no idea what this bass really is, a Mod? Prototype? whatever it is, it's back where it belongs. I've missed this bass for over 20 years now

Very cool! Nice to get back. What happened in 1987 to give up the bass?

I bought a Pedulla Orisini custom bass and decided to sell the Kramer. I've always regretted selling it, but, I was 17 years old at the time and was making unwise decissions at the time.
I just found out recently on the other board that the bass was not MODDIFIED! It was an experimental shape for the 250B done at the Kramer factory. I imagine this was done towards the end of the 250B production. If you do see this style on Ebay you should definately consider the purchase. I don't think it's classified as a prototype., but it's still cool anyways. I will purchase a normal 250B sometime in the near future.
