My wife got this guitar from a previous marriage, or maybe an old boyfriend, she doesn't even remember any more. My 5 year old is obsessed with guitars and he's starting to play, I remember we had this in the garage so I showed it to him, I couldn't figure out what it was, so I found this site "Vintage Kramer", and I'm pretty sure is the 450 G, it has the "Kramer" covers on the pickups and looks just like the picture. Is this guitar worth any money? Is it a good guitar? It's in great shape, except for two missing knobs.

That guitar is very cool.. and VintageKramer is definitely your primary resource on the 'lumy' Kramers. As far as value, they're climbing every year. There seems to be a surge for aluminum neck instruments over the last few years. Velenos are insanely expensive, Travis Bean are following close behind, and Kramer is right in line with Beans. Beans are ranging around $3000-$4000 for the guitar, and Kramers are in the $800 - $1500 range. You can still pick up a good deal on eBay, but I feel in the next few years, these guitars will be worth more. There are definitely more Kramers than Beans and Velenos, which is one reason for the gap in pricing.. but the bottom line, they're not making any more 450Gs, and haven't made them in a long long time.
You're basically at a crossroads on what you want to do. If you want to keep that guitar as an investment or a guitar in your collection.. you should clean it up, and not play it. If you want your kid to own a piece of history and play a cool guitar.. then by all means do that instead. Just don't expect it to be worth the same as if you took good care of it right now. I believe these guitars need to be played.. and I play mine.. so the value is little concern to me, since I don't plan on selling my guitars. Comes down to.. are you a collector or a player.
Either way.. you have a cool guitar. If you're really interested in value.. keep an eye on eBay and see what they go for.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm actually leaning towards cleaning it up, and selling it. I haven't played guitar in over 20 years, and if my son is going to start to play I'd like to pick up an acoustic/electric to play with him, my oldest plays piano, and the youngest is into drums (which is what I actually play). I just don't see the 5 year old with Marshal stacks just yet :^)

Yes .. From what I've been researching on the KRAMER 450 g .. they were considered to be the "ORIGINAL" KRAMER Typ Guitar. Here's one that's being sold on Ebay right now with 2 hours to go. The going price so far is $700 and will probably go UP ! I hope this Helps !
