rema Music!

I'm extremely pleased to announce a new online music store, based out of Germany, called rema music. Here we have a store created by a musician for musicians looking to provide something off the beaten path for guitars, basses and effects pedals. And wisely, they're looking towards aluminum based instruments! This store will bring specialty based instruments and pedals to Europe and Germany. Unfortunately for those in the States they do not plan on shipping to the U.S., but this will be great for Europe since these guitars and basses are hard to come by.

For their opening (launch slated for January 2008), they will be offering Tactical Works and Bastin Guitars initially, with more to come in the near future. For their effects, they'll be showcasing Toadworks (US) and Empress Effects (Canada), with many more to come. Along with new instruments and pedals, they'll be selling various unique pedals and aluminum guitars. The future of aluminum based instruments is looking extremely bright, and stores like this will push the industry further and further.

We are very proud to help them get exposure and appreciate their support at MetalNecks! Please be sure to check out their store at www.remamusic.com or www.remamusic.de

New forum change

We just broke the forum into two seperate boards (General Discussion and Instruments for Sale). Instruments for Sale is the board where you'd obviously post instrument that you want to sell. I'll also include eBay auctions that I come across from time to time. Also, these don't have to limited to complete instruments. Since alot of these manufacturers are no longer, parts and replacements could be extremely useful.

I also wanted to thank everyone that has posted a reviews of their instruments. There are alot of instruments out there, so if you know of anyone that has a 'lumy' guitar or bass.. be sure to let them know about the review area here. The more the merrier.

We're still waiting to hear back from Tym Guitars, no word yet (see previous blog entry). I also want to thank everyone that has contacted me about potential manufacturers, and the those that have sent great words of encouragement. I'm really excited about the site, and I want to slowly add more features and info, but my 'day' job just keeps me working too hard.

Metal Necks talk

  • MetalNecks.com mentioned on the Electrical forum!
  • Heated discussion at ShortScale.org (MetalNecks mentioned as resource)

If anyone sees MetalNecks mentioned, please let me know, so I can add a link!

    Thanks!

Garcia Bean talk and possible new manufacturer to the list!

On the TravisBeanGuitars.com forum there is a very interesting thread that is going on. It's related to the recent auction of Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead fame) where a Travis Bean TB1000A (Artist) was auctioned off for 200-300k after surcharges and taxes, etc.

Now, that's super interesting on it's own, but there have been some interesting developments pointed out by Bean fans on the board. Though, it's not an issue if Garcia played a white Travis Bean TB1000 Artist, but is this the White Bean he use to play, or is this a replacement guitar that he rarely (or never) played live.

There are definitely two sides to the story... and the thread has gone from great investigative research to border line mud slingin', but super interesting either way. If anyone has pictures of Garcia with this guitar, you might want post a link on that forum.

You can visit the thread by clicking here.

On a manufacturer's note, a visitor to this site pointed me in the direction of Tym Guitars in Australia. They produced a Vibratone guitar with a metal neck. I sent a query letter to them to see if they produce or use to produce a run of these guitars. If so, I'll add them to the Manufacturers list.
