Style of Music: lots of different things, but im not gonna lie, i like shellac.
Comments: when i got this guitar, it was severly fucked up. i got for about £450 if i remember correctly. there are reasons for this - the bridge pick up has been taken out and replaced with something called a 'performance' pick up (?) and the wood between the two pick ups was literally hacked with what looks like a pick axe. cant understand why anyone other than a complete dick would do that to a guitar like this but there you go. anyway it was the only one on ebay that i could afford so i got it and got it fairly cheap. to be honest i wasnt really sure that it would work.
when it arrived i was pleasantly suprised that not only did everything work fine, even the replacement bridge pick up sounded great. so clean and shimmery. the thing i noticed first was the unbelievable response on the lows and the highs. these things sound amazing. the way the harmonics jump out is quite something. the neck pick up sounds quite alot like that of my old tele deluxe. i like to use the bridge if im playing with a normal sounding band, and the middle setting if im playing riff heavy stuff that doesnt require to much distortion, other than to give it a growl. i run it through a hiwatt dr103 and a traynor reverb master. stamp on a distortion though, and you get a very thick tone.
the neck, although quite chunky, is very comfortable to play and the action is very fast. very well made. to say that it played and sounded so good despite the abuse it went through before it got it is a testament to the work that bean and his cohorts produced. and believe me, i give it some stick to. its played very hard. a very tough guitar. unfortunatly, when i was living at home my dad decided to kick it across the room in to a wall. understandably this caused a few family issues, but it even survived this.
tone wise, although it has humbuckers, it will still get you very close to the lauded 'shellac attack' sound. i have an egc that i love dearly, but unfortunatly the treble response on those is not nearly as clear and pronounced as on beans. a 1000 will still get you closer to that shimmery clean/harsh roar of a tb500 than an egc500 will, although you can get pretty close with those too.
if you can afford one, get one. they are amazing instruments.
