Where did you order it? I've been curious about getting an Electrical myself.

Did you get the bass yet? How do you like it? I'm going to order one of their 500 style guitars.

I just put in an order for a black custom 500. Kevin said it will take 10 - 12 weeks. I'm psyched and curious. How will this axe stack up against my Bean 1000S - which is an extraordinary instrument? Will I like the metal fretboard? Is my wife going to kill me? Stay tuned.

I think it'll stack up nicely. I have a TB1000S and a EGC Standard. The metal fretboard won't bother you at all (I was worried about that too). I had issues with the next thickness, since the Bean neck is much thicker than the Veleno modeled neck (almost a 1/4" thicker from front to back). At first.. I hated it, then I got use to it... and now I'm liking it. Playing leads is much easier on the thinner neck, so it's fun to rip it up with that.

Kevin offered to swap necks, but I wanted to give this a try. The part of my problem was that I wanted it to be a Bean.. it's not a Bean, and it's nice to have something 'different' while maintaining the things I love about the Bean.

I'm not sure what neck comes with the 500 stock, but I'm guessing it will be the same Veleno style neck.

My EGC Standard's response is second to none, it's much hotter and agressive than my Bean, which I really enjoy. My EGC uses the TB1000 clone pickups w/coil splitters for some single coil action. I can safely say that the TB1000 humbucker clones sound damn close to the originals. I don't own a TB500, so I can't say how the split coil stacks up to that. If I wanted to, I could make some small amp adjustments and get it sounding almost exactly as my TB1000S.

My goal was to compliment the Bean with the EGC, not replace it. And now the creative process is flowing with tones from the Bean OR from he EGC.. it's a great thing.

About your wife.... the EGC is simply and unbelievable deal. You'll spend more on a Les Paul Studio being cranked out of a factory than this unique hand made guitar. The value is simply unbelievable. If she's still unhappy.. turn up the amp (just joking).

Grats on your new purchase. Make sure you post a review and let people know what you think.

My electrical bass took about 14 weeks, but it was well worth it. The neck is more comfortable than bean basses I've played, and I think the guitar is generally more comfortable (balance, etc).

hogrot, the tb pickups are def. the way to go, they sound insane.

Almost everyone I've come across is very very happy with Kevin's guitars. My guess is you'll be very happy. the fretboard is one of the things that appeals most to me.

here's a long discussion about ECGs on Steve Albini's messageboard: http://www.electrical.com.....BB2/viewtopic.php?t=13013

Metal Necks,

Thanks for the response and info! Now I'm really psyched. I haven't discussed the neck radius with Kevin. A thinner neck would be OK with be as long as I can string it will 11's without any bowing. I can't imagine that would be an issue. I played a strat for many years and that has a thinner neck than the Bean. It is nice for lead.

I'll work things out with my wife. She understands. I agree that the EGC is a good deal. This is an instrument that my heirs for generations will play.

I'm going to order a Custom 500 this week. Still very very torn on what to do color wise.

Gray w/ black guard.
Darker wood stain w/ black guard.
Fiesta red w/ black guard.
White w/ tortoise guard.

I'm a big Jazzmaster fan... the last one is my favorite JM finish but I almost feel like thats reason not to get it. I would like this to be a completely different guitar, and think I should veer away from a Fender-style finish and go for something a bit cooler like the first three.

I owned a TB1000A and sold it a couple years back. Biggest mistake I've made, but I got it because it was a Bean, not because it was the guitar I really wanted (the 500). Still was a great instrument, just needed some stuff fixed.
