Hi there! I'm thinking about buying a Kramer on ebay. I'm fascinated with the sound of the metalneck guitars, but yet I haven't had the chance to play one yet, because I'm from eastern Europe, so they are hard to find here. So it will be kind of a lucky shot I guess, to see if it suits me. If not I can still sell it again I think. The most common models I find are the DMZ series. All I really care about is that it's in a playable condition and that the neck is straight because I heard this can't be easily fixed on these guitars. I'm not a collector, so if there have been made some modifications that actually improve the guitar, I wouldn't mind. I'm mainly interested in the DMZx000 and x50g models. Is there a big quality/price range between them, or are they all the same standard, just with slightly different specifications? I would be glad about any informations on what I should realisticly plan to spend on one of these. Thanks in advance.

carthage,
A good Kramer, say a 650B or 450B in good condition with all original parts can go from $700-900 USD and are pretty good buys. Things to consider when bidding are:
Neck wear-should see some of the overcoat disturbed on the back around the fifth fret. Excess wear or rubbing means something is up.
Pickup surrounds-if a Kramer bass still has the wood ones (650B especially) then it drives the price up, as few of those still exist complete and on instruments.
Body wear-some knicks and stratches, but if its abused should drive price down.
Electronics-many of the kramers on ebay often have new knobs or even pickup mods. These should go in the $400-$600 range at best.
DMZ models are "younger" and should not get a high or higher price. Things to think about are color, pickups, and if it comes with the case.
Hope this helps.
