I'm in need of tuners for the aluminum vaccaro neck I purchased for my project guitar. The headstock is only 3/8" (9.5mm) thick. So far, every machine head I've run across appears to be for 1/2" thick and greater thicknesses.
Are the Kramer aluminum necks the same thickness? Does any know where to find properly sized tuners for these?
Right now I'm looking at hand making shims for the tuners (Grover locking rotomatics). But if a properly sized tuner is available, I'd prefer to use that.
Thanks, -Mike

Locking rotomatics have a longer shaft on them, Id use the regular rotomatics or the older Schallers like to the Kramers and Beans. You might have to grind the actual screw/bushing down to make it work. Its brass so its easily done.

Thanks fo the reply, I was starting to think this was a dead forum.
I solved the tuner problem over the weekend. I bought some 1/8" aluminum stock from home depot, and made 6 spacers shaped like the tuner bodies. I polished the edges using 120, 220, 600 and finally 1500 grit, then moved to rubbing compound followed by polishing compound. They look like they are factory items.
Next, I'd like to make a copy of the roller nut that the later Kramer aluminum necks used, the kind with the rivets and string ends (I don't know what they're actually called).

Would anyone here who has one mind posting the measurements?
TIA, -Mike
