John Veleno began producing guitars in the early 1970s. His first run of production guitars only produced 200 guitars. He developed a prototype "ankh" guitar, which were destroyed in a warehouse fire in 1985. Recently, they've begun production on Ankh guitars again, as well as the "original" model. These are all hand made, with extremely low numbers.
Veleno, along with Travis Bean, were early pioneers of aluminum instruments in the 1970s. Veleno guitars also have influenced other aluminum instrument manufacturers like the Electrical Guitar Company who have adopted a very similar neck style. |
