Hi guys, I just found this forum tonight since my GAS for a Kramer aluminum neck has flared up in light of my upcoming birthday!

Are there any notable reoccuring problems with these guitars? I wouldn't think so, but it can't hurt to ask.

What's the best way to go about finding one of these guitars? Of course there's ebay, which I check pretty frequently (and usually miss out on good deals from :( ), but is there any way to search craigslist globally and look for these guitars? I really want to stick below $1000 if possible, and I'm not into the Vaccaro stuff, and certainly can't afford any Travis Beans.

Are there any dealers/shops/guitar hunters that would carry aluminum neck Kramers? Is there any avenue of search besides ebay?

I would say eBay is your best bet. With the recent craze of Travis Bean guitars reaching the 5K mark, I would suspect that Kramers will raise in value as well. I often see Kramer's with Buy It Now, and that would be the best way to 'win' the auction... as long as the BIN as a good price.

There was a DMZ2000 on eBay on the 6/22 and it had a BIN at $1000 and was picked up for that. I'd keep a third eye on the 'Instruments for Sale' forum here.

Good luck!

You should be able to get a decent DMZ 2000 in the 6-700 price range on e-bay, from time to time. The 6000's though will reach up to 1000 . They both feature the Dimarzio Duper D's, just that the 6000 will have crown inserts on the fretboard, and better flaming on the oak/maple. My 6000 has active electonics, but I'm not sure off hand if that was standard to these. My 2000's are not active. Both are a bargain for the quality and sound and 'uniqueness'. They are built to last, and last and last.

Neck joint issues should be watched for, such as cracking where the body meets the neck. Check pictures of those areas closely. Frets may be worn, and need a refret job, and not just anyone will work on them (because of the ebenol fretboard) and they are twice as expensive as a 'normal' fret job. Petilloguitars.com can be contacted, for he does work on these on the side while building his own line of fine guitars and has original Kramer fret wire (which are named after him) to do refret jobs.

E-Bay is probably your best, if your patient, chance of getting one of these jems.
