has anyone experimented with using steel to connect the neck to the bridge in guitar construction? I was considering using plate steel to bolt a neck to and have the plate travel rearward to a steel riser that mounts the bridge..,, 1/4 plate steel, or maybe a smaller guage with side rails, making an "H" pattern..,

It should work just fine, but steel gets really heavy really fast. I would lighten it as much as possible by channeling the H shape. Strength shoudnt even be an issue with steel. Good luck.
